Pomona-Pitzer Claims 2017 SCIAC Women's Water Polo Championship

La Verne, Ca - The Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens captured the 2017 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's water polo championship on Sunday afternoon defeating Whittier 9-3 in the championship game. 

Isabella Villa gave Pomona-Pitzer an early lead that the Sagehens would never relinquish. The Sagehens saw Jocelyn CastroNatalie Hill and Morgan McCracken each contribute with two goals each. Zyania Morales had two goals for the Poets. 

Pomona-Pitzer will find out who their oppnent is in the NCAA play-in game on Monday, April 30. The announcement will be made at NCAA.com.

The day started with the 7th place game between Redlands and Occidental. The Bulldogs won 11-7 with Rachel Nelson leading in scoring with four goals. Mirei Yasuda had two goals for the Tigers.In the 5th place game CMS defeated Chapman 13-11 behind two goals from Aracelia AldreteRoxy KiesslingTess Van Hulsen and Shannon Golden. Emily Fong had four goals for the Panthers while Grace Shade had three.  In the third place game La Verne defeated Cal Lutheran 9-7.  Stephanie Rosero and Megan Little each had three goals for the Leopards. Nicole RoedKris McGee and Logan Young contributed two goals each for the Regals.
