Defending national champions Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) and California Lutheran will represent the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) in the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship tournament beginning on Friday, November 9.
CMS, the reigning national champions, and back-to-back SCIAC Postseason Tournament title winners, enter the national postseason with an overall record of 26-3 following a victory over Cal Lutheran in the conference tournament final. The Athenas won the match 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-14) and will begin their title defense against Augusburg in NCAA Regional action hosted by Gustavus Adolphus.
The other teams in the eight-team regional include Gustavus Adolphus, Minnesota-Morris, St. Benedict, Pacific Lutheran, Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and St. Thomas.
The Regals earned an at-large bid to the NCAA playoffs after falling to CMS in the SCIAC Tournament championship match. The Regals will compete at the NCAA Regional hosted by Chicago, which also features Dubuque, Trinity (Texas), Aurora, Washington U., and Cornell College.
