The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) women's tennis team earned a 5-0 decision over MIT in Monday's NCAA Division III Championship Quarterfinal contest at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, Calif.
With the win, CMS improves to 27-2 overall, while MIT concludes its 2018 season with an overall record of 20-3.
After doubles, CMS held a 3-0 lead as the tandem of Catherine Allen and Caroline Cox defeated Sonya Das and Dora Tzeng of MIT, 8-2 in No. 2 doubles, while Juliette Martin and Kyla Scott knocked off Lara Rakocevic and Kelly Zhu, 8-3 in No. 3 doubles. Lindsay Brown and Nicole Tan clinched the doubles sweep for the Athenas with an 8-6 win over Elysa Kohrs and Libby Rickeman in No. 1 doubles.
In singles play, Brown gave CMS a 4-0 lead when she defeated MIT's Zhu, 6-2, 6-0 in No. 3 singles. Scott then clinched the contest with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Tzeng in No. 4 singles.
