Three women's soccer student-athletes from the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) were recently named Scholar All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches Association (USCA), while Pomona-Pitzer's senior Abigail Onderwyzer-Gold was named Scholar All-American.
A senior midfielder from Oakland, Calif., Onderwyzer-Gold is a Neuroscience major boasting a 3.66 grade-point average (GPA). She was named Scholar All-West Region and a Second Team Scholar All-American after pacing Pomona-Pitzer to a 6-5-3 mark in SCIAC play and the second seed in the league tournament. The Sagehens finished with a 10-8-3 overall record led by Onderwyzer-Gold's eight goals.
Senior midfielder Leah Kolek of Whittier was also named Scholar All-West Region. A Child Development major with a 3.53 GPA led the Poets to the fourth seed in the conference tournament, a tournament championship, and a bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Kali Youngdahl - a senior forward from Cal Lutheran - logged a 3.74 GPA as an Accounting major. Youngdhahl led the league with 13 goals and seven assists as the Regals posted a 11-1-2 record in SCIAC action. Cal Lutheran totaled a 16-4-3 overall record, earned the conference tournament's top seed, and an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship.
