NCAA Women's Golf Championship - Day 1 Recap

After 18 holes of play Redlands leads the field of 25 teams with a score of 306 at the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas on Tuesday. Action resumes Wednesday, May 15. 

Redlands is first overall at 306, while Methodist and DePauw are tied just one stroke behind the Bulldogs at 307. The defending national champions Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) finished Tuesday's round in ninth with a score of 315 as both Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams represented well on Tuesday. 

In the field of 131 golfers, Whittier's Taylor Beckwith - playing as an individual - finished day one second overall with a one-over-par 73. Keilee Bessho and Annie Hay of Redlands tied for sixth overall with scores of 75, while Amy Xue of the Athenas tied for 16th overall to highlight SCIAC players in the top 20.
