2018 SCIAC Softball Athletes of the Week

Cal Lutheran
First-Year • Pitcher/Outfield • Whittier, California

 

Perez propelled Cal Lutheran to a pair of wins over Pacific Lutheran, 2-0 and 6-1. In the Regals’ 2-0 win, the first-yera pitcher scattered seven hits in seven innings of work and fanned two batters to pick up her first collegiate win. In the second game against the Lutes, the Whittier, Calif. native registered an RBI and scored a run in the 6-1 victory.

Chloe Amarilla
CMS
Junior • Pitcher/Infield • Claremont, California

 

Amarilla helped CMS to a 2-1 week that featured a doubleheader split in conference action against La Verne. The Athenas fell, 5-3 in the first game against the Leopards before notching a 3-0 victory in game two. CMS also picked up a 2-0 win over Lewis & Clark. At the dish, Amarilla was 6-for-10 with three hits in game one versus La Verne, and a pair of hits in the second contest. She also scored a run in each game. Game two against La Verne saw the junior toss a 7.0 inning, complete-game shutout with four strikeouts while allowing just two hits in the win.

Junior • Pitcher/Infield • Ontario, California

 

Rodarte propelled Pomona-Pitzer to a 3-1 week that featured a doubleheader sweep of Puget Sound, and a split against Cal Lutheran. Rodarte threw her first career no-hitter in the season opener against Puget Sound on Friday and struck out a career-high 14 batters. She also helped her cause by launching a two-run homer in a 4-0 victory. She started again the following day against Cal Lutheran, throwing six innings and surrendering only one run for her second win of the season.

Redlands
Junior • Catcher/Infield • Fairfield, California

 

Siegel helped Redlands to a SCIAC split with Whittier during last week’s action. The junior catcher was stellar at the plate going 6-for-7 (.857 batting average) with three RBI and two runs scored as the Bulldogs fell to the Poets, 7-6 before topping Whittier, 10-8. In the two-run victory, the Fairfield, Calif. native as 4-for-4 with two runs scored, while driving in a pair of runs. Behind the plate, Siegel registered 10 put outs on 12 total chances, and added a pair of assists.

Redlands
Senior • Outfield/Utility • Upland, California

 

Curtis propelled Redlands to a SCIAC split with Pomona-Pitzer as the Bulldogs fell, 11-4 in game one, before securing a 4-3 win in game two against the Sagehens. Curtis was stellar at the plate in the two league games, going 3-for-6 (.500) with a double, and two runs driven in in each game. In game one, Curtis ripped a pair of singles, while she picked up her two-bagger and scored a run in the second contest. In the outfield, she finished with three putouts on three total chances.

Junior • Pitcher/Infield • Claremont, California

 

Amarilla of CMS earned her second SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor after leading the Athenas to a 2-0 week that saw CMS post wins of 4-3 and 6-0 over Redlands in league action. Amarilla was 4-for-6 at the plate with a double, a triple and two runs driven in. She also scored a pair of runs and stole two bases in the double-header triumph. In game two, Amarilla had three of her four hits for the week including both exta-base hits. The pitcher in game two, she also tossed six scoreless innings to secure the win, allowing just two hits with three strikeouts.
