NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship Recap

The Pomona-Pitzer and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) men's cross country teams, along with three individuals represented the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) at the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships in Oshkosh, Wis. on Saturday. 

Pomona-Pitzer placed seventh overall in the field of 32 teams, while CMS came in 27th of 32. North Central (Ill.) won the men's team title with 43 points, followed by Washington University-St. Louis in second with 110 points, and Wisconsin-La Crosse (127 points). North Central's Dhruvil Patel won the individual championship with a time of 24:24.5. 

Andy Reischling of the Sagehens finished third overall with a time of 24:32.9 on the 8-kilometer course, while teammate Hugo Ward was the second SCIAC runner to cross the line in 57th overall with a time of 25:17.7. Miles Christensen of CMS was 72nd overall with a time of 25:24.7, just ahead of Whittier's Benjamin White who also clocked a time of 25:24.7. 

Tucker Cargile of Redlands placed 140th in the field of 280 runners and secured a time of 25:49.4, while Stevie Steinberg was the second Stag to cross the line (142nd) in a time of 25:50.3. Joseph Esparza added a mark of 26:03.4 to finish 186th overall.
