Carter Floyd of Pomona-Pitzer was tabbed the national athlete of the week by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as recently announced by the organization.
Floyd earned this honor just after recording the fastest 800-meter time in the nation at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational this past Saturday with a time of 1:51.29. His time was just .01 seconds ahead of the second-best time by Tucker Cargile from Redlands.
This is the first time that a male athlete from Pomona-Pitzer has been named National Athlete of the Week during the outdoor season. Maya Weigel earned the honor twice in 2016.
