AUSTIN, Texas – Caltech men's track & field senior Alex Bourzutschky was named CoSIDA Academic All-America, earning Second Team recognition.
A two-sport scholar-athlete also competing in swimming & diving over the past three years, Bourzutschky earned national attention this year with an appearance in the Jeopardy! College Championship. A physics option, he has compiled a 3.99 GPA and spent the summer of 2015 researching exoplanet magma ocean magnetic fields with Prof. David Stevenson.
CoSIDA recognizes student-athletes from each of the four NCAA divisions for their combined athletic and academic performance. The honor is one of the most prestigious in collegiate athletics. Nominees must have at least a 3.3 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status athletically and have been at the nominating institution at least one calendar year.
