The No. 1 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) men's tennis team earned a 5-0 win over Trinity (Texas) Saturday afternoon and advances to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Championship on Monday, May 20 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
With the win, CMS improves to 31-1 overall and will take on Bowdoin (18-4) in the quarterfinals.
CMS took a 3-0 lead after doubles as Daniel Park and Oscar Burney defeated Cameron Krimbill and Arturo Zigman, 8-4 on the No. 2 court, before Julian Gordy and Nikolai Parodi topped Wilson Lambeth and Jordan Pitts, 8-3 on the No. 1 court. In No. 3 doubles, Robert Liu and Jack Katzman edged Wilson Hamilton and Christian Settles, 8-7(4).
In singles action, Parodi downed Lambeth, 6-3, 6-2 in No. 1 singles, before Nic Meister sealed the win at No. 6 singles, 6-1, 6-3 over Tilden Oliver.
