SCIAC Men's Tennis All-Conference Awards Announced

The 2019 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Tennis honors were announced Thursday following a vote conducted by the league's member head coaches.

For the third year in a row, Nikolai Parodi of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) was voted the SCIAC Athlete of the Year and a First Team All-SCIAC selection. Parodi, who also secured Newcomer of the Year honors in addition to Athlete of the Year nod in 2017, continues to impress as he helped the Stags to a 27-1 overall record and a 7-0 mark in conference play during the 2019 season. Playing primarily at No. 1 singles throughout the season, Parodi logged a 13-6 record (3-1 against the SCIAC). He also teammed with Julian Gordy in doubles and tallied a 14-7 overall ledger, highlighted by a 5-0 run in conference play.

SCIAC Newcomer of the Year honors went to Nic Meister of the Stags who powered to a 15-2 mark in his debut campaign. He added an 8-2 overall record against the SCIAC during the 2018-19 season.

Occidental's Cameron Coe was voted the Character Award winner for his display of sportsmanship and character on and off the court. He makes great calls and will always give the opponent the benefit of his doubt. Spending nearly all his time at No. 3 singles, Coe logged a 5-11 overall record (1-6 against the SCIAC). In doubles action, Coe teammed with Lucas Chmielewski and notched a 10-11 mark (2-7 against league foes).

CMS head coach Paul Settles and his Stags' coaching staff earned SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the third time (2015, 2017). CMS is currently ranked first in the nation as the Stags have registered a near-perfect 27-1 overall record (7-0 SCIAC) heading into the upcoming SCIAC Postseason Tournament.
