SCIAC Men's Tennis All-Conference Honors Announced

The 2018 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) men's tennis teams were announced Friday following a vote conducted by the league's member head coaches.

The 2018 SCIAC Athlete of the Year and First Team All-SCIAC honors went to Nikolai Parodi of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) who was tremendous throughout the season helping the Stags post a 26-3 overall record highlighted by a 7-0 mark in SCIAC play. Named the SCIAC Athlete and Newcomer of the Year as first-year in 2017, Parodi built on his excellent debut campaign 24-5 overall record at No. 1 singles, while also posting an impressive 22-5 ledger at No. 1 doubles with Julian Gordy. and secured back-to-back Ojai Valley Tournament singles and doubles titles. 

Pomona-Pitzer's Jed Kronenberg was voted the SCIAC Newcomer of the Year after completing a succesful first season helping the Sagehens clinch the second seed in the upcoming conference tournament. Kronenberg posted an overall record of 24-6 in singles action, including a 4-1 tally against league foes at No. 1 singles. Kronenberg finished as the ITA Division III West Region runner-up as well as the Ojai Valley Tournament runner-up. During the SCIAC slate, he split his four doubles appearances, picking up a pair of No. 1 doubles wins with Kalyan Chadalavada. 

Head coach Mandy Gamble of Caltech and her staff garnered SCIAC Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the second time in three years. Gamble led the 33rd-ranked Beavers to an overall record of 11-6, and a 5-2 mark in SCIAC play to earn the third seed in the upcoming SCIAC Tournament. 

The CMS men's tennis team was also voted the SCIAC Sportsmanship Team for the first time in program history following the 2017-18 season.
