The 2018 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Tennis Tournament is set to begin Friday, May 4 on the campuses of top-seeded Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) and second-seeded Pomona-Pitzer.

CMS (26-3, 7-0 SCIAC) will host fourth-seeded Cal Lutheran (5-13, 3-4 SCIAC) at 3 p.m. on Friday in SCIAC Tournament semifinal action. The Stags completed a perfect regular season SCIAC schedule, dropping just three points all season to its league competition. In Friday's other semifinal tilt, second-seeded Pomona-Pitzer (15-8, 6-1 SCIAC) will host third-seeded Caltech (11-6, 5-2 SCIAC) at 3 p.m. The Sagehens' lone setback came at the hands of CMS, 9-0 on April 12, while the Beavers fell to both the Stags (8-1) and Pomona-Pitzer (5-4). The winners of Friday's semifinals will square off in the SCIAC Tournament championship match on Saturday at the highest remaining seed.

Last year's national runner-up, CMS defeated Occidental in the quarterfinals (5-0), and Cal Lutheran in the semifinals (5-0), before besting Redlands, 5-3 in the SCIAC title match. Pomona-Pitzer defeated Chapman (5-0) to begin last year's tournament, before falling to Redlands (5-3) and Cal Lutheran (5-0), while Caltech was felled by the Bulldogs, 5-0 in the quarterfinals. The Kingsmen knocked off Whittier, 5-4 before losing to CMS (6-0), and defeating the Sagehens, 5-0.

CMS's No. 1 singles player Nikolai Parodi has been superb this season, registering an 18-3 overall record, and has lost just once to a conference opponent this season. A force in No. 1 doubles as well, Parodi and partner Julian Gordy have amassed a 17-5 record in doubles play this season and have defeated all of their SCIAC competition. Leading the way for Pomona-Pitzer is Jed Kronenberg who has logged a 25-6 record in No. 1 singles this season. In doubles, he and partner Kalyan Chadalavada are 6-7 this season.

Caltech's No. 1 singles player Varun Shanker 14-10 this season, while he and No. 1 doubles teammate James Wei are 18-8 so far in 2018. Cal Lutheran's Yahn Gawrit has featured primarily at the No. 1 singles slot for the Kingsmen this season and he has amassed a record of 7-12. In doubles action, Gawrit and teammate Lucas Tilly have collected a ledger of 9-6 from the No. 1 doubles court.
