The No. 14 Pomona-Pitzer men's basketball team will represent the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) in the NCAA Division III Championship with first round action set to begin Friday, March 1.
Pomona-Pitzer (25-2), which won its first SCIAC Postseason Tournament title since 2008, will take on Texas-Dallas (24-4). Pod-host No. 2 Whitman (26-1) will host Texas Lutheran (18-10) in the other first round contest, and the winners will meet on Saturday, March 2.
Losing just twice during the regular season, Pomona-Pitzer earned the top seed in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament and defeated Redlands, 79-77 in the semifinals, before notching its second tournament crown with a 68-45 win over Occidental. Earlier in the regular season, the Sagehens earned a thrilling 112-109 2OT win over Whitman on Nov. 24.
Texas-Dallas won the American Southwest Conference East Division and powered to three home victories, including an 88-74 win over Hardin-Simmons in the ASC title game to claim the program's fourth tournament title.
