SCIAC Men's Basketball Postseason Tournament Field Set

The field for the 2019 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Basketball Postseason Tournament is set. Tournament play will begin Friday, February 22 with the semifinals, with the final on Saturday, February 23. 

Pomona-Pitzer secured the top seed in the conference tournament for the first time, and will be in search of its first league tournament crown since 2008. The Sagehens highlighted a 23-2 overall record during the 2018-19 regular season with a 15-1 mark in SCIAC play. Pomona-Pitzer's sole defeat came at the hands of Occidental, 64-63 on Feb. 16 that snapped an 18-game winning streak. The Sagehens will host fourth-seeded Redlands at 7 p.m. on Friday in semifinal action. The Bulldogs (15-10, 10-6 SCIAC) are making their fifth appearance in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament and first since 2016. Redlands won the tournament title in 2013 and 2011. Pomona-Pitzer twice defeated the Bulldogs during the regular season - 82-77 on Jan. 2, and 81-68 on Jan. 30. 

Friday's other semifinal features defending tournament champions - second-seed Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) (19-6, 13-3 SCIAC) - against third-seeded Occidental (21-4, 12-4 SCIAC). The Stags are making their 12th consecutive appearance in the SCIAC Postseason Tournament and have won six times (2009, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2018) They will host the Tigers at 7 p.m. on Friday. Occidental is entering its second straight SCIAC Postseason Tournament and now has four appearances overall. CMS won both regular season matchups with the Tigers - 63-60 on Jan. 9, and 65-57 on Feb. 13. 

The winners of the two semifinal games will square off on Saturday, February 23 for the SCIAC Postseason Tournament title at the highest remaining seed, and at a time to be determined.
