For the second time in as many seasons, Michael Scarlett of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) earned All-American honors by both the NABC and D3hoops.com as recently announced by the organizations.
Scarlett was named to the NABC All-District West First Team and was also named an NABC Third Team All-American in addition to secure D3hoops.com All-West first team honors, as well as First Team All-American praise.
A two-time SCIAC David Wells Player of the Year (2017 and 2018), Scarlett led the Stags to the program's sixth conference tournament title, highlighted by a 17-game winning streak. Scarlett led CMS to a thrilling 83-82 victory over No. 2 Whitworth in the first of the NCAA Division III Championship, before falling to No. 1 Whitman, 89-84 (OT) in the second round. It was also the second time in as many seasons that the Stags squared off against the same two opponents in the opening rounds of the national postseason tournament.
Scarlett averaged 19.7 points per game during the 2017-18 season posting a 48.3 shooting percentage, and a 42.0% efficiency rate from beyond-the-arc. He was also an 89.7% free throw shooter in his final campaign.
