For the second time in as many seasons, Michael Scarlett of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) was named to the NABC All-District West First Team as recently announced by the organization.
A two-time SCIAC David Wells Player of the Year (2017 and 2018), Scarlett led the Stags to the program's sixth conference tournament title, highlighted by a 17-game winning streak. Scarlett led CMS to a thrilling 83-82 victory over No. 2 Whitworth in the first of the NCAA Division III Championship, before falling to No. 1 Whitman, 89-84 (OT) in the second round. It was also the second time in as many seasons that the Stags squared off against the same two opponents in the opening rounds of the national postseason tournament.
Scarlett averaged 19.7 points per game during the 2017-18 season posting a 48.3 shooting percentage, and a 42.0% efficiency rate from beyond-the-arc. He was also an 89.7% free throw shooter in his final campaign.
Scarlett is now eligible to be named an NABC All-American which will be announced later this spring.
