Redlands Voted First in 2019 SCIAC Football Preseason Poll

Redlands was voted to finish first in the 2019 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Football Preseason Poll as voted upon by the league's member head coaches. 

Redlands secured 55 points and three first place votes in the preseason poll. The Bulldogs posted a 6-1 record in conference play in 2018 winning each of their final four games, and finished with a share of the league title. Redlands begins its 2019 campaign on Saturday, September 7 at George Fox. 

Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) was picked to finish second in 2019 after receiving three first place votes and 52 total points. The Stags secured a 6-1 record in SCIAC play a year ago and earned a share of the conference title with Redlands. CMS won the tiebreaker and was the SCIAC's representative in the NCAA Division III Championship. The Stags return to action on Saturday, September 7 at Puget Sound. 

Third place in the preseason vote when to Chapman as the Panthers finished with 51 points and a first place nod ahead of the 2019 season. Chapman finished the 2018 season 4-3 in league action and begin the new season on Friday, September 6 when it travels to Pacific (Ore.). 

After placing third in the standings a year ago, Pomona-Pitzer is tabbed to finish fourth in 2019. The Sagehens picked up a first place vote and 42 total points in the voting following a 5-2 record in SCIAC play in 2018. Pomona-Pitzer takes to the field Saturday, September 7 when it travels to Lewis-Clark Valley. 

California Lutheran is slated to finish fifth in the standings this year after notching 39 points in the preseason voting. The Kingsmen were 3-4 in conference contests a year ago, and will begin their 2019 ledger on Saturday, September 14 at Pacific Lutheran. 

Sixth place honors went to La Verne which also finished its 2018 SCIAC schedule at 3-4. The Leopards, who received 25 points in the preseason vote, will be in action Saturday, September 7 when they host Whitworth. 

With 14 points in the preseason poll, Whittier enters the 2019 season picked to finish in seventh, while Occidental (10 points) rounds out the preseason poll. The Poets and Tigers will begin the current season on Saturday, September 7 against Luther and September 21 against Willamette respectively.
