Redlands' Gonzales Named AFCA All-American

> AFCA All-America Release

Senior defensive back Daniel Gonzales caps off an already-impressive final campaign with the Bulldogs by representing Redlands on the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America First Team, as recently announced by the organization.

In addition, he is the sole representative of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) to be named to one of the two All-America teams for NCAA Division III in 2017.

Gonzales finished the recent campaign as the national leader in interceptions per game with a total of nine over nine games. He also ranks third with 19 passes defended.  Furthermore, he recorded 35 tackles and two tackles for loss during the Bulldogs' 7-2 season that included a 5-1 run in the conference.

This Redlands East Valley High School graduate becomes the sixth AFCA All-American in Redlands' history and the first such honoree since kicker Kevin Grady earned the award in 2012.
