2018 SCIAC Baseball Athletes of the Week

Brandon Mulrooney
Junior • Outfield • Placentia, California


Mulrooney helped Whittier to a 3-1 week as the Poets picked up wins against Whitman, 5-1 and Lewis & Clark, 11-1, while splitting a doubleheader with Willamette - winning the first game 9-0 before falling, 7-6. Mulrooney was 6-for-13 at the plate with a double, home run, seven runs scored, and seven RBI, in addition to drawing three walks. He also had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage as a center fielder making 19 putouts, which included a diving play in center field to secure the win against the the Pioneers.

Henry Levenson
Sophomore • Outfield • Bedford, Massachusetts


Levenson directed CMS to a 2-1 week that saw the Stags pick up wins over Sul Ross State, 18-6 adn Texas-Dallas, 9-8, as well as a non-league loss to Redlands, 14-9. For the week, Levenson was 7-for-15 at the plate with eight RBI. Against Sul Ross State, Levenson finished a double shy of the cycle, finishing with four hits,  including a single, a triple, and a two-run homer. He also scored twice in that victory and registered a 1.000 fielding percentage in the outfield with four total chances.

Rainier Aguilar
Senior • Catcher/Pitcher • San Bernardino, California


Aguilar led Redlands to a 2-1 week that featured a SCIAC series win over Chapman. The Bulldogs earned a 10-4 win in game one, and a 4-3 victory in game three to secure the series. For the week, Aguilar hit .429 with six hits including three doubles (two in game one), four runs scored, and three runs driven in. The senior from San Bernardino, Calif. was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI in game one against the Panthers. He also collected two hits in Redlands’s 5-4 loss to Chapman.

Cohen was stellar on the mound for Occidental as the Tigers earned a 7-3 victory over Cal Lutheran in game one of the three-game series. Cohen tossed all nine innings on the hill, allowing just three runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out eight batters in the win over the Kingsmen.

La Verne
Graduate • Infield/Pitcher • Murrieta, California


Thomas was a key contributor in La Verne’s 2-1 week which featured a series win over CMS. The Leopards won game one, 12-1 and game three, 7-6 with the Stags posting a 7-1 victory in game two. Thomas was 6-for-11 (.545) at the plate with a double, a triple and five runs driven in over the three games, earned a walk, and scored five runs. In La Verne’s 12-1 triumph, he was 2-for-3 at the dish with a triple and three RBI while also crossing the plate three times.

Jack Hanley
Sophomore • Catcher • Martinsville, New Jersey


Hanley of Pomona-Pitzer helped the Sagehens to a 3-0 week that featured wins over Rutgers-Newark (12-5), Dickinson (12-6) and Ithaca (7-6). At the plate, Hanley was a combined, 7-for-11 with two doubles, a home run and six RBI. He also walked four times and scored five runs during the week. In the one-run win over Ithaca, Hanley collected three hits including a long ball and a double, while notching four RBI and three free passes in the win over Rutgers-Newark.
