The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced its 2018-19 Scholar Teams of the Year and All-Academic Team selections.
In order to be in contention for Scholar Team of the Year, a program must finish highly at the respective national championship meet and have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA.
Earning the distinction on the men's side were Caltech (3.69), Chapman (3.33), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) (3.42), Occidental (3.15), Pomona-Pitzer (3.60), and Redlands (3.25). On the women's side, Caltech (3.46), California Lutheran (3.32), Chapman (3.56), CMS (3.55), La Verne (3.20), Occidental (3.37), Pomona-Pitzer (3.65), Redlands (3.49), and Whittier (3.36) each earned the distinction.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.30 and must have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
- Competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship
- Finished the regular season ranked in the national top-50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top-35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List.
A total of 22 men and 34 women garnered the prestigious honor. CMS led the way with eight selections on both sides.
