The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) recently had 77 men's and women's tennis student-athletes garner ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete status as announced by the organization.
To be eligible, players must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present institution for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
On the men's side, Pomona-Pitzer led SCIAC schools with 10 seletions to the ITA All-Academic Scholar-Athlete team, while Caltech followed with nine selections. In total, 43 men's tennis student-athletes from the conference were honored.
For the women, Chapman, CMS and Pomona-Pitzer each had six student-athletes garner individual recognition as 34 SCIAC women's tennis student-athletes in total received the accolade.
Additionally, Caltech, Chapman, CMS, Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands were recognized on both the men's and women's sides as ITA All-Academic teams for having collective GPAs of 3.2 or above for the 2018-19 season.
