Andy Reischling of Pomona-Pitzer was named to the Google Cloud Cross Country/Track & Field Academic All-America second team as recently announced by CoSIDA.
CoSIDA recognizes student-athletes from each of the four NCAA divisions for their combined athletic and academic performance. The honor is one of the most prestigious in collegiate athletics. Nominees must have at least a 3.3 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, have reached sophomore status athletically and have been at the nominating institution at least one calendar year.
The now-graduated senior had an excellent 2018-19 season with the Sagehens, finishing second overall in the NCAA National Championship in the 5000-meter run and seventh in the 10000-meter run. He also placed third overall in the 2018 NCAA Cross Country National Championship earlier this year, posting the highest finish in Sagehen history. Reischling graduated with a 3.84 GPA as an English major and hopes to work in entertainment media and sports.
Reischling finished his career as one of the most decorated runners in Pomona-Pitzer history, setting program records in the 5000-meter and 10,000-meter runs. He also won the Pomona-Pitzer Scholar Athlete of the Year this season.
