The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Individual Tennis Championships continued Saturday with singles quarterfinal and semifinal action, and doubles quarterfinal play at Stowe Stadium in Kalamazoo, Mich.
In the women's singles quarterfinal round, Catherine Allen of CMS advanced past Chicago's Marjorie Antohi, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 to advance to the national semifinals. Pomona-Pitzer's Caroline Casper also competed in the quarterfinal round but fell to Venia Yeung of Wesleyan, 7-5, 7-5 setting up an Allen vs. Yeung semifinal matchup. In the semifinals, Allen fell to Yeung, 6-2, 6-2.
In the quarterfinals of the doubles portion of the championship, Allen and Caroline Cox cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Kenyon's Erika Oku and Maggie Sweeney, while Sarah Bahsoun and Nicole Tan of the Athenas advanced past Wesleyan's Kristina and Victoria Yu, 5-7, 6-4, 6-0 in comeback fashion.
The Athenas' pairings of Allen and Cox and Bahsoun and Tan advanced to the doubles semifinals and will square off against opponents to be determined at 10:30 a.m. PDT (1:30 EDT).
In the men's singles quarterfinals, Bernardo Neves of Washington University edged Nikolai Parodi of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS), 7-6 (7-1), 6-3.
Doubles action saw the Redlands pair of Brysl Libao and Brad Cummins fall to Chicago's Erik Kerrigan and Ninan Kumar, 6-4, 6-2.
