|Football Athlete of the Week|
Junior • Quarterback • Lake Arrowhead, California
Plante led Redlands to a 42-25 victory over CMS on Oct. 21. The junior quarterback connected on 21-of-34 passes for 298 yards and tossed three touchdowns. The Lake Arrowhead, Calif. native notched scoring strikes of 19, 34 and eight yards. Plante was also the Bulldogs’ leading rusher in the game, as he collected 143 yards on 15 rushing attempts with a long run of 67 yards. Plante completed passes to five different receivers in the win against the Stags, including a long pass of 37 yards.

Sophomore • Forward • Poway, California
Arnold led Cal Lutheran to a 1-0-1 week which featured a 5-2 win over Pomona-Pitzer and a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Redlands. Against the Sagehens, Arnold exploded for all five of the Kingsmen’s scores as he converted five of his seven shots on goal in the game. Against the Bulldogs, the sophomore from Poway, Calif. tallied an assist on Cal Lutheran’s game-tying goal which came in the 76th minute of action.

Kai helped pace Whittier to a 2-0 week which featured SCIAC wins over La Verne (3-0) and Pomona-Pitzer (2-1 OT). In the Poets’ 3-0 win against the Leopards, Kai was busy in the midfield, notching three shots with one on target, while also helping the defense post a cleansheet. Against the Sagehens, Kai netted the game-winner on strike to the far post over the keeper to give Whittier a 2-1 victory in overtime. The pair of wins gave the Poets six points and vaulted them into the top half of the conference standings.

Senior • Opposite Hitter • Puyallup, Washington
Arntson of CMS guided the Athenas to a 3-0 week with SCIAC victories over La Verne (3-2), Chapman (3-0), and Pomona-Pitzer (3-0). Arntson paced the CMS offense with 38 kills during the week averaging 3.45 kills per set, while hitting at a stellar .368 clip. She added eight total blocks (1 solo, 7 assisted) during the week, and registered 14 of her 38 kills against the Sagehens, finishing each match with double-digit kill totals. The trio of wins for the Athenas improved CMS to 12-1 in SCIAC play.

Senior • Goalkeeper • St. Louis, Missouri
Diemer was once again a force between the posts for Pomona-Pitzer, helping the Sagehens collect three conference victories, including a 10-9 win over Whittier which gave the Poets their first SCIAC loss of the 2017 season. After notching two saves in a victory over Caltech, Diemer was tremendous in Pomona-Pitzer’s one-goal victory against the Poets, turning aside 14 shots as the Sagehens improved to 7-1 in SCIAC play.
