|Baseball Athlete of the Week|
Junior • Outfielder • Burbank, California
Ligot of La Verne led the Leopards to a 2-1 week against Redlands in SCIAC play. The junior outfielder hit .615 over the three games including a 4-for-5 effort with a triple and two RBI in La Verne’s 13-9 setback to the Bulldogs. Ligot collected two hits in games one and three to finish with eight hits in 13 at-bats for the week and drove in five runs. The Burbank, Calif. native was also stellar in the field, registering 10 putouts and an assist on 11 total chances.

Phanomchai helped La Verne to a second place finish at the two-day SCIAC No. 2 event on Saturday and Sunday, carding a combined score of 144 to earn individual medalist honors. Phanomchai finished even over the 36 holes after notching a one-under-par 71 on day one, and a one-over-par 73 on day two. The first-year golfer from Thailand edged Pomona-Pitzer’s Conor Rooney and CMS’s Johnny Brandt for first overall after both notched collective totals of 145.

Senior • Palm Desert, California
Ordian of Redlands earned her second SCIAC Athlete of the Week honor after rallying from 10th place on day one, to win the two-day SCIAC No. 2 event with an overall score of 149. Ordian, who registered a round of 78 on day one, carded a tournament-low round of 71 on Sunday to earn individual medalist honors. The senior from Palm Desert, Calif. won the two-day tournament by two strokes, edging CMS’s Margaret Loncki and Mira Yoo who each finished with 151s over the 36 holes.

Gillespie lifted CMS to an 18-6 SCIAC victory over Occidental after notching a collegiate career-high 12 saves - five more than her previous best of seven stops - helping the Athenas to a 6-0 record thus far in league action. Gillespie has now recorded eight wins between the posts in her debut season.

First-Year • Catcher • Mundelein, Illinois
Falkstrom of Pomona-Pitzer helped the Sagehens to a 4-0 week that featured SCIAC double-header sweeps of Cal Lutheran and Redlands. Falkstrom was 6-for-10 during the week (.600) with three home runs and eight RBI. In Pomona-Pitzer’s 9-7 victory in game two over Redlands, Falkstrom was 2-for-3 at the dish with a grand slam and an RBI double to highlight her offensive output during the four-game stretch. In the field she registered 11 putouts and one assist on 12 total chances from behind the plate.

First-Year • Midland, Michigan
Shanker of Caltech earned his second SCIAC Athlete of the Week nod after the Beavers earned an 8-1 victory over Whittier, and a 6-3 win over Redlands. Shanker picked up a pair of No. 1 singles victories, including a 7-6 (2), 6-1 win over his Bulldogs’ opponent, and also added a doubles win (8-5) with partner James Wei over their Poets’ opponents to help Caltech secure both team wins.

Zhao helped Pomona-Pitzer to SCIAC wins over Occidental (9-0) and Caltech (8-1) as the Sagehens are now 3-0 in league play. Zhao and Arianna Chen were 2-0 at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-3 and 8-3, while Zhao was also victorious at No. 1 singles, winning, 6-2, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 during the week.

Kahovec of Cal Lutheran finished fifth out of 107 competitors in the 800-meter run at the Pomona-Pitzer Relays. He clocked a time of 1:54.01, and was the top SCIAC performer in the event.

Abraham continues to excel for CMS as the senior sprinter was part of the Athenas’ 4x100-meter relay team that clocked a CMS and SCIAC record 46.82 at the Pomona-Pitzer Relays. Abraham also finished second in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.81, and then powered to the third-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season in the 200-meter dash (24.58) to finish sixth overall in the event as well as the top Division III finisher.

Senior • UTL • Orange, California
Peterson paced Chapman to a thrilling, 12-11 win over Whittier in SCIAC play as the senior fired in six goals, including a second quarter hat trick to help the Panthers stake a 9-4 lead at intermission. She also scored Chapman’s final goal as the Panthers were able to fend off the Poets’ late rally to seal the win.
