Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Thomas D'Anieri
CMS
Sophomore • Runner • Wellesley, Mass.

 

D'Anieri clocked a time of 25:10.1 in the 8-kilometer race en route to a fourth place overall finish as CMS won the Cal State San Bernardino Invitational. The sophomore runner from Wellesley, Mass. was the fastest Division III runner in the field of eight teams. 

Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Annie Leonard Bryn McKillop
CMS
Senior • Runner • Portland, Oregon

 

McKillop earned her third SCIAC Athlete of the Week award after leading the Athenas to a first place finish in the Cal State San Bernardino Invitational. McKillop was the fastest runner in the field of 10 teams, clocking a time of 17:19.6  to win the 5-kilometer race.

Football Athlete of the Week
Jacob Isabel
Chapman
Senior • Wide Receiver • Pleasanton, California

 

Isabel was terrific despite a 41-35 overtime loss to Trinity (Texas) on Saturday. Isabel registered 109 receiving yards on just four catches including a long reception of 57 yards as well as a touchdown. A versatile threat for the Panthers, Isabel also featured on Chapman’s special teams units notching 144 yards on three kickoff returns including a 96-yard scamper for a touchdown. The senior wideout from Pleasanton, Calif. also rushed for nine yards on two carries, including a reverse for eight yards.

Men's Soccer Athlete of the Week
Annie Leonard Chase Boone
Redlands
Senior • Forward • Beaverton, Oregon

 

Boone helped Redlands to a 2-0 week which saw the Bulldogs earn a 3-2 win over CMS, and a 3-0 win over Whittier. Boone totaled six points on the strength of two goals and two assists, including a goal and two helpers in Redlands’ win over the Poets. His goal against the Whittier served as the game-winner before he provided a pair of insurance assists to help seal the victory. Against the Stags, Boone’s marker gave the Bulldogs a 2-1 advantage, helping his team improve to 6-0 in SCIAC action. 

Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week
Annie Leonard Alina Cobian
La Verne
Sophomore • Defender • Covina, California

 

Cobian propelled La Verne to a 1-0-1 week in SCIAC action scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Whittier. With less than five minutes to play in regulation and the game-knotted at 1-1, the Leopards sent a corner kick to the back of the box where Cobian was able to head the ball into the net to give La Verne the 2-1 win. Earlier in the week, the sophomore defender from Covina, Calif. provided an assist on the Leopards’ second goal in a 2-2 double-overtime draw with Pomona-Pitzer. 

Volleyball Athlete of the Week
Annie Leonard Kylie Cooke
Chapman
Senior • Outside Hitter • La Habra Heights, California

 

Cooke led Chapman to a 3-0 week in SCIAC competition, including a hard-fought, 3-2 win over No. 7 CMS. Cooke paced the Panthers with 35 kills, averaging 3.50 kills per set as she registered a .360 hitting percentage for the week which also included 3-0 wins over Redlands and Caltech. Cooke floored 18 kills against the Athenas and hit .375 for the contest, adding six digs and assisting on five blocks in the five-set victory. Chapman remains the only unbeaten team in SCIAC play.

Men's Water Polo Athlete of the Week
Annie Leonard Carlos Heredia Viteri
Whittier
Freshman • Utility • Commerce, California

 

Viteri scored three goals in a, thrilling, 7-6 overtime victory over CWPA Varsity Division III top-ranked team Pomona-Pitzer, and added three more scores and two assists in a 12-8 win over SCIAC foe Occidental. Viteri highlighted the Poets’ 2-0 week by finding the back of the net in overtime to upset the Sagehens who are ranked 19th in the CWPA Varsity Poll Top 20 Poll.
