Kurihara directed Whittier to a pair of pivotal SCIAC wins during the week, notching a 78-76 win over Caltech, before he helped the Poets edge Redlands, 93-92. Kurihara averaged 14 points per game with 13 coming against the Beavers and 15 against the Bulldogs. He shot 44% from the field including 50% from behind the arc, while going 86% from the charity stripe. Against Redlands, he hit the game-tying bucket with 11 seconds to play before draining a game-winning three-pointer after the Bulldogs had regained the lead to lift the Poets to the win.

Gray lifted Cal Lutheran to a 1-1 week which featured a hard-fought, 54-51 victory over Occidental followed by a 69-52 loss to CMS. Gray averaged 14.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, netting 18 points in the win over the Tigers and 11 in the loss to the Athenas. The senior guard also pulled in eight of her 11 rebounds in the winning effort against Occidental and finished the week with two assists and three steals as the Regals moved to third in the conference standings.

McCracken lifted Pomona-Pitzer to a 1-1 week to start the 2018 season, helping the Sagehens to a 9-8 victory over Concordia (Calif.), and a 21-3 loss to USC. McCracken led the team in the winning effort against Concordia with two goals, an assist and four steals, highlighted by the game-winning score with under two minutes to play in the fourth quarter.
