SCIAC Honors Athletes of Week: CMS' Cox, Redlands' Hower

The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: CMS' Andrew Cox (men's swimming) and Redlands' Alie Hower (women's water polo).

CMS: Andrew Cox, Swimming
The freshman from Bakersfield won the 50 freestyle at the NCAA Division III Championships with a time of 20.37. He was the only freshman to win an individual event at this year's championships. He also won the consolation final (ninth place overall) in the 100 freestyle. His time of 45.83 would have placed fourth in the championship final. He scored 29 points to give CMS 24th place in the meet.

Redlands: Alie Hower, Water Polo
On the week, Alie provided key plays for the Bulldogs as the team went 4-2 in a highly competitive schedule. She offered five goals on two occasions when Redlands defeated George Washington (11-3) and UC Santa Cruz (12-5). She also provided eight more goals in three other games, totaling 18 goals in six games. She leads the team in scoring with 41 goals on the year. In addition, Alie came up with nine steals, four ejections drawn and four assists.
