SCIAC Volleyball Players AVCA All-Americans

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 31st annual AVCA All-America teams for NCAA Division III women's volleyball. The awards will be presented Nov. 17, 2011, at the NCAA Division III Women's National Championship banquet in St. Louis, Mo., where the 2011 Division III AVCA Player of the Year will be announced.  The NCAA Division III national quarterfinals begin Nov. 18.

2011 AVCA Division III First-Team All-America 

Jackie Russell, a 5-6 setter for California Lutheran University, is a junior from Newbury Park, Calif. Russell was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Year after leading her team to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. She's ranked second in the conference averaging just over 10 assists per set, but was also a force to be reckoned with behind the line with 39 service aces. It marks her first appearance on the First Team after she was a Third-Team All-American a year ago.

Logan Boyer-Hayse, a 5-9 outside hitter for Occidental College, is a junior from Boulder, Colo. Boyer-Hayse, who was third in the conference in kills with 3.63 kills per set, was named to the First-Team All-SCIAC. She helped lead the Tigers to a 22-9 overall record, which was their best season since 1992. This marks her second consecutive year as an AVCA All-American.

2011 AVCA Second-Team All-America

Alyssa Swatek, a 5-9 libero for Chapman University, is a senior from Chino Hills, Calif. During her final season at Chapman, Swatek led the team in digs for the second straight year with 693, while also leading in digs per set at 6.19, which ranks 13th in the nation. This is Swatek's first time being honored as an AVCA All-American.
