Efficient Offense Nets Regals National Award
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Out of 446 Division III teams Cal
Lutheran ranked above all in kills per set and will receive an
award presented by the NCAA. The Regals were one of only two teams
in the country to average over 14 kills per frame.
Offensively Cal Lutheran was led by senior Allison Kerr who ranked
second in the country hitting at a .433 percentage for the season.
She along with fellow senior Megan Thorpe both averaged about four
kills per set, both finishing in the top-34 overall.
As a team the Regals ranked in the top-10 nationally hitting at
a .265 clip, their best since the 2001 season.
Sophomore setter Jackie Russell was the nation’s runner-up
averaging just under 13 assists per set. In her second year at CLU
she currently ranks third all-time in program history with 2,408
dimes, only 300 away from breaking the record.
