Freshman sprinter Vainayaki Sivaji contributed impressive runs
during the highly-competitive Occidental Invite on Saturday,
helping both relays meet NCAA Provisional times. She ran a
blistering third leg of the 4x100m Relay to help the Bulldogs
finish second with a time of 48.36 seconds, which eclipsed the
former school-record mark of 48.61 that was set in 1984. Sivaji
also competed in the third-place 4x400m Relay that clocked in at
3:53.51, standing exactly a second and a half faster than the
group’s former record-setting performance of 3:55.01 from
last weekend's Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (SCIAC) Championships. Individually, she ran a
seventh-place time of 58.00 in the 400m Dash, coming behind runners
from private clubs, USC, Point Loma Nazarene and Cal State San
Marcos.
