The senior was the only female athlete to win three individual
events during the SCIAC No. 2 Quad Meet at Redlands this past
Saturday. Youngern repeated her three victories from the first
conference quad meet which include the hammer, shot put and discus
events. She won the hammer by over 12.50 meters (41 feet) and broke
her own school record by nearly two full meters with a throw of
57.57 meters (188 feet, 10 inches). In the shot put she won with a
mark of 13.26 meters (43 feet, 6 inches) and was only .05 meters
off her own personal best. Her second SCIAC sweep was completed
with a discus distance of 37.58 meters (123 feet, 3 inches) leading
a group of Regals whom finished first through fifth. Youngern
currently holds CLU school records in all three disciplines and has
earned one NCAA Automatic Qualifying standard (hammer) and two
Provisional Qualifying standards (discus, shot put) with her best
marks in 2010.
