Whittier Women's Soccer Falls to Pacific Lutheran in NCAA First Round

The Whittier women's soccer team fell to Pacific Lutheran, 4-0 in the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer First Round Sunday evening at William Rolland Stadium on the campus of Cal Lutheran in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

With the loss, Whittier concludes its season 12-9-0 overall.

The 2017 SCIAC Tournament champion Poets fell behind early as Pacific Lutheran found the back of the net in the third minute to highlight a three-goal first stanza. The Lutes scored again in the 14th and 18th minutes, and capped the scoring in the 54th minute to seal the 4-0 win.

Whittier's Miranda Yzabal and Lauren Kai each fired two shots on goal for the Poets, while Leah Kolek and Jazmin Gomez each put a shot on target, but the Pacific Lutheran goalkeeper was equal to the task, stopping all six shots.
