Occidental wins SCIAC Women's Basketball Regular Season Championship; Redlands, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Cal Lutheran Also Advance to SCIAC Postseason Tournament

The Occidental College Tigers (22-3, 13-1 SCIAC) clinched their fifth straight SCIAC Women's Basketball Championship tonight after defeating Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (15-10, 9-5) 50-36. The Tigers will be the top seed in the upcoming SCIAC Tournament and will host Cal Lutheran University (16-9, 9-5).

 

The Regals dropped a 60-59 decision to the University of Redlands (18-7, 12-2) tonight, putting them in a third place tie with CMS. The Athenas win the tiebreaker and will be the third seed.

 

The Bulldogs finished in second place and will host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the other semifinal on Thursday night.

 

The two winners will meet for the SCIAC Tournament Championship and league’s automatic berth in the NCAA Division III Championships at the highest remaining seed next Saturday night.
