D3Hoops.com Women's All-West Region Team Announced

The D3Hoops.com Women's All-West Region Team was announced and include three SCIAC student-athletes, Kourtney Zilbert (Whittier), Trenecca Jones (La Verne) and Brianne Brown (Occidental).  

Whittier's Kourtney Zilbert was selected the D3Hoops.com West Region Rookie of the Year.  Zilbert earned First Team All-SCIAC honors after averaging nearly a double-double with 11.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game this season.  She had seven double-doubles on the year and finished in the conference's top fifteen in offensive rebounds (1^st), total rebounds (2^nd), steals (2^nd), field goal percentage (6^th), scoring (8^th) and assists (15^th). 

University of La Verne junior forward Trenecca Jones was named to the First Team All-Region.  A 5-9 product from Ontario and a 2008 First Team All-SCIAC selection, Jones helped lead La Verne to a 20-8 overall record and a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Occidental's Brianne Brown, a junior from Los Angeles was named to the Second Team All-Region.  Brown was named the SCIAC Women's Basketball Athlete of the Year as she helped the Tigers claim the SCIAC Championship Crown finishing 12-2 in conference play. 

Players were nominated for the D3hoops.com awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools in the West Region. A record 606 players were nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for 10 players in their region. SIDs voted for six frontcourt players and four backcourt players and the top vote-getters at each position were named to the All-Region team.
