SCIAC Honors Female Athlete of the Week: La Verne's Trenecca Jones

La Verne: Trenecca Jones, Women's Basketball
A sophomore from Ontario, Jones registered a career-high 34 points in a 68-65 non-conference defeat at Chapman on Jan. 23. She followed that effort with a 23-point, 14-rebound performance in a 61-49 win over Caltech on Jan. 25. Jones concluded her week with a perfect shooting game against Occidental going 4-for-4 from the field while making all eight of her free throw attempts for 16 points in an 89-78 win over the Tigers on Jan. 27 as the Leopards remained unbeaten (6-0) in league play. Jones also tallied 11 rebounds against Oxy to post her 11th double-double of the 2006-07 campaign. Through Jan. 28, Jones leads the SCIAC in both scoring and field goal percentage while ranking second in rebounding.
