La Verne Captures Eighth Consecutive

The University of La Verne captured its eighth
consecutive SCIAC championship with a 3-1 win over
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Tuesday night at Frantz Athletic Court. The
win gives the Leopards, the nation's fifth-ranked team in Division
III, an automatic berth to next week's NCAA West Regionals.
Game scores were 28-30, 30-25, 30-25, 30-18.
Jodi Lindsay shined for the Leopards with a match-high 21 kills
while hitting .459 against the Athenas. Brianna Gonzales
registered 18 kills with Crista Jones contributing 11 kills. Emily
James dished out 54 assists while Katherine Randall collected a
match-high 21 digs.
With the win, La Verne also extended its home conference win streak
to 58 consecutive matches. The Leopards have not lost a
SCIAC match at home since October 1999.
