SCIAC Honors Female Athlete of the Week: La Verne's Brianna Gonzales

A junior outside hitter from Whittier, Gonzales helped lead La Verne, the nation's fifth-ranked team in Division III, to a 2-0 week en route to clinching an undefeated 14-0 SCIAC Championship campaign.  Gonzales led the team averaging 4.1 kills per game in a 5-game triumph over second-place Cal Lutheran Thursday in Thousand Oaks.  She had a team-high 21 kills and added 16 digs against the Regals to notch her 13th double-double on the year.  Against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps she hit .308 while collecting 18 kills and 8 digs in only three games of play in ULV's 3-1 victory over the Athenas on Oct. 30.  Gonzales capped her week by being voted the 2007 SCIAC Player of the Year.
