SCIAC Honors Athletes of Week: Redlands'

The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: Redlands' Casey Finfrock (men's water polo) and La Verne's Mandy Sedia (volleyball).
UR Casey Finfrock, Water Polo
In an exciting week of Bulldog men's water polo, Finfrock helped
the Bulldogs secure four wins in both conference and non-conference
action as the team's top goalkeeper. On Wednesday, he provided one
save and one assist in limited action as the Bulldogs routed
Caltech, 18-3. Later that day, he came up with 10 saves against
NAIA school Cal Baptist to help in the 7-6 victory over the
Lancers. In the longest game in Redlands history, Casey tallied 29
saves to set a new team record, as the Bulldogs held on for the 9-8
quadruple-overtime win against Whittier. He also provided two
steals in the exciti! ng win. The Bulldogs played the
always-competitive Air Force Academy later that day and Casey
provided 9 more saves and one steal. On the week, he boasted a save
percentage of 72%.
ULV: Mandy Sedia, Volleyball
A 6-0 middle blocker from Rancho Cucamonga, Sedia helped lead La
Verne to a 3-0 week and a SCIAC Co-Championship along with the
Automatic Qualifier in the NCAA Championships. The Leopards enjoyed
a 3-0 sweep over Redlands and consecutive 3-0 wins over #14 ranked
and previously unbeaten Cal Lutheran . Sedia hammered her way to 11
kills and a .500 hitting percentage vs. Redlands, also adding 3
blocks and a service ace in the win. In two solid wins over Cal
Lutheran, Sedia hit .409 in the first match on Nov. 3 and totaled
four blocks in the second m! atch on Nov. 5. She was named SCIAC
1st Team Middle Blocker for her 3rd selection to the SCIAC
All-Conference teams over her four years at ULV.
