La Verne Snaps Chapman's 18-Game Softball Win Streak

LA VERNE -- Amanda Jones smashed a walk-off, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel La Verne to a 4-3 win April 2 over Chapman University, the nation's top-ranked softball team in Division III.

The Leopard win snapped the Panthers' 18-game win streak and also was Chapman's first loss to a Division III opponent this season.

Though the Leopards were held to just three hits in the contest, all three were homers, including solo shots from Jessica DeGiacomo and Kelley Silagyi. The two-run shot from Jones came with two out in the seventh as the Leopards trailed 3-2.
