SCIAC Honors Athletes of Week: CMS' Marenin, Pomona-Pitzer's Wilson

The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: CMS' Roman Marenin (track and field) and Pomona-Pitzer's Kindra Wilson (softball).

CMS: Roman Marenin, Track & Field
The senior from La Canada finished third at the California/Nevada Championships in the 400 Hurdles with a season best time of 52.71. The time was an NCAA qualifying mark and is currently ranked third in the nation. He also ran on both CMS relays. The 4 x 100 team finished sixth with the team's second best time of the season (42.97). Marenin ran the fastest split (47.8) on the 4 x 400 team that finished fourth in 3:16.35. The time is the team's fastest of the year, an NCAA qualifying mark and currently ranked sixth in the nation.

PP: Kindra Wilson, Softball
Wilson, a freshman on the Pomona-Pitzer softball team, helped break a 3 year SCIAC drought with a 6-1 win over Occidental College on Saturday. In the Occidental series, this leadoff hotter went 7 for 11 with 3 runs, a double and an RBI. She stole 3 bases, and had a 1.000 fielding percentage. In the win on Saturday, she was 4 for 4, reaching base in every inning in which the Sagehens scored.
