Four SCIAC Schools in West Region Top Ten; Sagehens #1
Claremont, Calif. - The Pomona-Pitzer Men's Cross Country team
jumped from eighth to first in the latest United States Track and
Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) West Region
rankings, it was announced today. Joining the Sagehens in the top
10 are Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (2), Occidental (6) and LaVerne
(8).
The Sagehens surged to the top of the rankings after a strong
showing at the UC Riverside Invitational last weekend, when they
finished 11th overall and first among Division III schools.
Pomona-Pitzer's top six runners all finished within 17 seconds of
each other. The five scorers averaged a time of 25;35, with Colin
Flynn leading the way at 25:29.
Pomona-Pitzer is now one spot ahead of local rival
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the West Region, with Whitworth, Linfield
and Colorado College rounding out the top five.
