2007 NCAA Division III USTFCCCA Men's
& Women's All-Academic Team
Los Angeles, CA. It was announced this
afternoon that six (6) Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference (SCIAC) cross country student-athletes have been named
to the All-Academic Teams by the United States Track & Field
and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Kevin Chaves and Galen Smith from
Occidental College were honored on the Men's All-Academic
Team. On the women's side, Grace Peck
(Occidental College), Alicia Freese (Pomona-Pitzer
Colleges), Avery Kelly (University of Redlands)
and Darlene Partida (Whittier College) were all
recognized for their ability to balance their academic and athletic
performances.
A total of 150 Division III male student-athletes and 203 female
student-athletes received the honor. The award recognizes
those student-athletes who have succeeded both academically and
athletically. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete
must carry a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and must
finish in the top 25 percent of the field at their respective NCAA
regional meet.
