Congratulations to Occidental's Kevin Chaves and Pomona-Pitzer's
Alicia Freese for being named the SCIAC Athletes of the Week!
OXY: Kevin Chaves, Senior, Cross Country
Senior runner and two-year team captain Kevin Chaves was
named SCIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Year after winning both
the SCIAC Multi-Duals and SCIAC Conference Championship titles. He
finished ahead of all his competitiors in a time of 26:23.92 en
route to leading the Tigers to their second SCIAC Championship in
as many years. During his four year career has finished 2nd, 4th,
2nd, and 1st at SCIAC Conference meets. Additionally he qualified
for XC nationals each of lasttwo years.

Pomona-Pitzer sophomore Alicia Freese ran away with the
individual title and conference Athlete of the Year crown Saturday,
Oct. 27 at the 2007 SCIAC Cross Country Championships. Freese
clocked a PR 22:18 over the 6000m (3.7 mile) La Mirada Park course
to win by nearly 40 seconds over SCIAC Multi-Dual Champion Evelyn
Ross of CMS.
