Occidental Men, CMS and Redlands Take 2006 SCIAC Cross Country Championships
Pomona-Pitzer's Leer, Redlands' Kelly win individual titles

The 2006 SCIAC Cross Country Championships were held Saturday at Prado Park. Occidental won the men's division, with CMS and Pomona-Pitzer finishing in a tie for second place. On the women's side, CMS edged Redlands for the title, with Pomona-Pitzer coming in third.

Individually, senior Pomona-Pitzer's Will Lear finished his career by winning the men's race, coming in ahead of Occidental teammates Kevin Chaves and Alex Ramon who tied for second place, seven seconds back.

Redlands' sophomore Avery Kelly won the women's race, outdistancing Pomona-Pitzer's Alicia Freese and Redlands' Kelsey Deforge who was a very close third.

Based on the Saturday results and the previous Multi-Dual results, Occidental is the 2006 SCIAC Men's Cross Country Champion. Co-champions exist on the women's side as Redlands and CMS tied in the final point totals.
