SCIAC Honors Athletes of Week: Pomona-Pitzer's Leer, La Verne's Sedia

The SCIAC Athletes of the Week have been named and the honorees are: PP's Will Leer (men's cross country) and ULV's Mandy Sedia (volleyball).

PP: Will Leer, Cross Country
The junior from Minnesota finished in 3rd place at the UC Riverside Invite. He finished behind runners from Southern Utah and Cal Poly SLO, and ahead of teammate and 2-time SCIAC Runner of the Year Crosby Freeman who finished 4th.

ULV: Mandy Sedia, Volleyball
A senior middle blocker from Rancho Cucamonga Sedia helped lead La Verne, the nations fourth-ranked team in Division III, to a 3-0 week and a co-lead of the SCIAC Conference. The Leopards (10-4, 5-0 SCIAC) defeated Occidental, Pomona-Pitzer and Whittier in three-game sweeps. Sedia registered 16 kills (match high) and a .520 hitting percentage against Pomona-Pitzer, also adding 1 block and a service ace in ULV's triumph over the Sagehens. Against the Poets, Sedia recorded 8 total blocks (a 1.11 a game average) while also contributing a match high 14 kills and a .455 hitting percentage.
