The Pomona-Pitzer men's water polo team will travel to Stockton, Calif. to face the University of Pacific on Saturday, Nov 25 in the opening round of the NCAA Championship at 12 p.m. at the Chris Kjelden Pool.
Pomona-Pitzer clinched its spot in the 2017 NCAA Championship tournament following a 9-7 victory over Whittier as the top-seeded Sagehens edged the second-seeded Poets to earn its second straight SCIAC tournament title.
Pomona-Pitzer stands at 24-10 overall and is led by Adam Ward who has fired in 47 goals and boasts a .505 shot percentage. Joseph Schafer has also been impressive notching 40 goals and 20 assists, while Adam Gross has dished out a team-best 46 helpers. In goal, the Sagehens are led by 2017 SCIAC Athlete of the Year and SCIAC Tournament Most Valuable Player Daniel Diemer who has registered 233 saves and an 8.38 goals-against average.
The winner of Saturday's opening round will advance to the next round and face UC Davis on the campus of USC on Thursday, Nov. 30.
