Cal Lutheran Men's Soccer Falls to Loras in NCAA First Round

The Cal Lutheran men's soccer team fell to Loras, 4-2 in Saturday afternoon's NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship First Round contest at South Field on the campus of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.

Cal Lutheran, the 2017 SCIAC Tournament champion, found the back of the net early in the first stanza as Joey Arnold scored just 1:59 into the game on a feed from Brandon Kearney to give the Kingsmen a 1-0 lead.

Loras then erupted for four consecutive goals as Javi Simon netted a brace, while Mike Perhats and Danny Chavarria each added a tally to give the Duhawks a 4-1 advantage in the 34th minute.

Arnold struck again for Cal Lutheran in the 68th minute to make it 4-2 following a pass from Diego Ortega, but it was not enough as Loras was able to hold on for the win.

The Kingsmen conclude their season, 13-5-2 overall.
