Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Wins SCIAC Men’s Basketball Championship; Whittier, Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands Join Stags in SCIAC Postseason Tournament

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags (23-2, 12-2 SCIAC) completed their regular season tonight and will enter the SCIAC Postseason Tournament as the SCIAC Champions and top seed. Joining CMS is Whittier, Pomona-Pitzer and Redlands in the tournament.

 

The Stags will host The University of Redlands Bulldogs (13-12, 8-6) in one semifinal on Friday night. The Bulldogs defeated Caltech tonight 91-65 to clinch the fourth seed. The Stags dropped their season finale tonight to the Pomona Pitzer Sagehens (15-9, 10-4), 51-50. The win by the Sagehens earned them the second seed.

 

The Whittier College Poets (18-7, 10-4) will take on the Sagehens in the other semifinal on Friday night at Pomona-Pitzer. The Poets defeated La Verne tonight, 68-65.

 

The winners of the two semifinals will play for the SCIAC Postseason Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday night at the highest remaining seed.
